Political Animals looking forward to kicking-off Challenge Cup Weekend at Friday Night Lights
This Friday (24th August) sees the Political Animals RLFC take on a London Select XIII as part of the Friday Night Lights evening at London Skolars. Friday Night Lights kicks-off the Challenge Cup Final weekend and has become a regular fixture for the Animals.
The Political Animals provides the opportunity for politicians of all levels to experience playing rugby as well supporting the sport off the field. Members of the club include MPs, Peers, councillors, Parliamentary and senior politically party operatives. Full eligibility criteria and the teamsheet for the game against London select is available on the club’s website: www.politicalanimals.org.uk.
Club captain and Chairman of the Parliamentary Group, Leeds NW MP Greg Mulholland, who said
“The Animals provide the opportunity for politicians to take part in a game that does so much at local level and see first-hand how clubs work with their communities and come together for good causes. I hope by taking part in this game we can really reach out and engage with the wider community and raise awareness of the value of getting involved in sport and in particular rugby league.
“Our match against London Select will be good fun and hopefully we can get a good number of tries to come away with the win. I’ll be hoping to rack up a few more points coming off the wing, but the most important thing is taking part with fellow parliamentarians and sending a positive message to the community.
“I’m particularly excited to be kicking-off the Challenge Cup Weekend, and am hugely looking forward to see the Rhinos beat Warrington the next day at Wembley!”
