Political Animals launch two new kits sponsored by William Hill
The UK’s politicians’ rugby league team, the Political Animals, have unveiled two new kits sponsored by the club’s major partner, William Hill.
The Political Animals is a unique club, made up of UK politicians of all parties and at all levels – MPs, Lords, councillors – and political staff. The club seeks to grow the sport amongst political and government decision-makers as well as supporting the Political Animals’ nominated charity, Rugby League Cares.
Members of staff from betting shops across London delivered the strips to the club’s Captain, Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland in advance of the Political Animals game on the eve of the Challenge Cup Final, as a curtain raiser to the London Skolars v North Wales Crusaders game and part of the annual Friday Night Lights event.
Sticking to the now traditional black kit, the Political Animals are delighted that William Hill are also supplying a second strip for the team, in white. As well as the club’s second kit, it will also be used for opposition teams who don’t have a strip of their own. Such teams are usually created specifically for a game against the Animals and don’t have access to suitable playing kit. The white strip will therefore enable the Animals to challenge more bodies to create a team and experience the game on the field and support good causes.
Mulholland said: “The Political Animals are delighted with our new kit and want to thank William Hill for their support. We are raring to play in the kit for the first time in our annual match in London on the eve of the Challenge Cup as part of London Skolars Friday Nights Lights event.
“We are also keen to get out there and play more games, to raise awareness of rugby league, support good causes and to allow more people to experience our game on the pitch. We found that whilst different bodies are keen to play us, lack of suitable kit has it has been a challenge. Now that we can provide a kit for them, we hope more will be able to take to the field”.
William Hill’s Public Affairs Manager, Lewis Rogers, added: “We’re delighted to be able to support the Political Animals and rugby league in this way. Rugby league is a community game and through our shops, we work closely to ensure we are a vital, welcoming and responsible part of those communities. We wish the Animals well in growing the sport and working with them in the future to achieve their goals.”
